Anne-Louise Mathie has worked as a teacher of English Literature, pastoral care worker and chaplain in Essex, Marseille, North Africa and Manchester where she has been involved with inter-faith groups and lived in ethnically diverse communities.

She holds a doctorate in church history.

She now lives in Bristol, South-West England and enjoys her work as wellbeing and spiritual advisor and counsellor with retired people.

She is married with four children and thirteen grandchildren and enjoys walking in the beautiful English countryside, listening to classical music and singing in a community choir in Bristol.

She feels an ongoing fascination with how people relate together as they hold different political and religious views.

Her first novel, No Traveller Returns, self-published, tells the story of a brave Frenchwoman who aids Jewish refugees, seeking justice across continents.
Her second novel, The Hairdresser of Finchley Road, published by Eukalypto, is a hymn to inter-cultural exchange and tolerance.
